BC’s Athletes Shine on the World Stage at Milano Cortina 2026
(Victoria, BC – Feb 23, 2026)
It has been an unforgettable Games for Team Canada at Milano Cortina 2026, as Canadian athletes delivered world-class performances across northern Italy, capturing the attention of fans at home and around the globe.
From podium-topping performances to personal bests and breakthrough moments, Team Canada rose to the occasion throughout the Games, with BC-connected and Canadian Sport Institute Pacific–affiliated athletes once again playing a major role in the nation’s success. Of Canada’s 21 medals at Milano Cortina 2026, BC-connected athletes won nine of them, or 43%.
Across the competition venues and throughout various cities, BC athletes delivered defining moments and clutch performances, contributing significantly to Canada’s medal haul and showcasing the depth of high-performance sport in British Columbia. From the first days of competition through to the final events, BC-connected athletes stepped up when it mattered most, delivering medals, finals appearances, and career-best results on the Olympic stage.
Some of the standout moments from BC-connected athletes at Milano Cortina 2026 include:
Two CSI Pacific-affiliated athletes – Marielle Thompson (Ski Cross) and Mikaël Kingsbury (Freestyle Skiing Moguls) – were the opening ceremonies flagbearers
Kingsbury was also a double medallist, with a Silver in Moguls and a Gold in Dual Moguls, making him the most decorated Men’s Freestyle Skier in Olympic history, with five total medals
CSI Pacific-affiliated athlete Megan Oldham also won two medals, when she brought home a Bronze in Freestyle Skiing Slopestyle before topping that with a Gold in Big Air
BC-born medallists in Men’s and Women’s Curling and Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey
These achievements highlight the preparation, resilience, and competitive excellence of BC athletes performing on the world’s biggest stage. With the eyes of the world watching, they delivered performances that inspired communities across the province and country.
“We are immensely proud to have witnessed the incredible achievements of Team Canada and our BC athletes at Milano Cortina 2026,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “Their hard work, determination and excellence truly embody the sprit of sport – proud, resilient and deeply committed to community. Their performances have inspired people throughout the country and remind us of the strength and spirit that defines being British Columbian.”
“From opening day to the final events, these Games have delivered unforgettable moments,” said Wendy Pattenden, CEO, CSI Pacific. “BC-connected athletes continue to demonstrate what’s possible through dedication, preparation, and world-class support systems. Their performances, and those of our National Sport Organization partners, inspire our communities and showcase the strength of Canada’s high-performance sport system.”
