Bournemouth Eye Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri as Semenyo Replacement Amid Man City Move

Bournemouth are reportedly targeting Arsenal playmaker Ethan Nwaneri as a replacement for Antoine Semenyo, who is set to join Manchester City.

Nwaneri, who signed a long-term contract with the Gunners last summer, has made just three starts from 11 appearances in all competitions this season.

The 18-year-old has yet to start a Premier League match this campaign, featuring as a substitute in six games and last starting against Tottenham in November.

According to reports, Bournemouth are considering a loan deal for Nwaneri to fill the gap left by Semenyo.

Arsenal are open to loaning the youngster to ensure regular playing time but are not interested in a permanent sale at this stage.

Nwaneri himself prefers to remain at Arsenal to benefit from their title challenge, with a potential summer move abroad, such as to Borussia Dortmund, seen as ideal for development.

Limited Minutes and Big Decisions

Manager Mikel Arteta praised Nwaneri as “very impressive,” noting his breakthrough season last year, during which injuries to Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard allowed him to accumulate 1,378 minutes.

This season, however, his minutes have dropped to just 446, largely due to new arrivals Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke.

Arsenal must now decide whether to loan him out for further development or retain him for their Premier League campaign.

A season-long loan in the Bundesliga is viewed as an ideal opportunity to maximize his potential while ensuring the club retains control through buy-back and sell-on clauses.

The decision on Nwaneri’s future is expected to be a significant one for Arsenal, balancing player development with the club’s competitive ambitions.
