Manager Unai Emery has named his team for Aston Villa’s Premier League match against Arsenal this evening.
Villa are chasing an incredible ninth consecutive Premier League win but face perhaps the toughest challenge the Premier League has to offer in the form of league leaders Arsenal.
Emery has surprised supporters with no fewer than five changes. The manager has reinstated Ollie Watkins after his double off the bench against Chelsea on Saturday, and Jadon Sancho is rewarded for his positive influence with a start at the Emirates Stadium.
Sancho will start on the right in place of captain John McGinn, who drops to the bench along with Donyell Malen and Ian Maatsen, who’s replaced by Lucas Digne at left-back.
The other changes were enforced by the suspensions of Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara, who were issued with their fifth yellow cards against Chelsea at the weekend.
Amadou Onana is restored to the starting eleven in place of Kamara in midfield, while Lamare Bogarde gets the nod in defence – presumably, but not definitely, at right-back.
Starting XI: Martínez, Bogarde, Konsa, Lindelöf, Digne, Onana, Tielemans, Sancho, Rogers, Buendía, Watkins
Substitutes: Bizot, Wright, Maatsen, García, Routh, Hemmings, McGinn, Malen, Jimoh-Aloba
