Actor and comedian Adam Sandler caused a stir in South London after unexpectedly walking into a Battersea coffee shop over the weekend.

The Hollywood star, widely recognised for roles in Happy Gilmore, Grown Ups and Uncut Gems, visited Il Molino on Battersea Park Road on Sunday, November 23.

Customers inside the café were left stunned as Sandler, dressed casually in a green parka and a smart shacket, entered the shop “like normal” and began chatting with people inside.

Local resident and long-time fan Adrià Cepero Santos described the moment as an unforgettable encounter.

He said the actor immediately recognised him and reacted in a way he didn’t expect.

“I noticed him straight away and his reaction was unexpected,” he said.

“He gave me a fist bump while saying ‘wow, you look like me’ with a smile.”

Santos added that Sandler also made a playful remark about how hot the coffee was.

“Just very friendly and chill.”

“It was amazing meeting him and having a chat.”

The actor’s relaxed appearance in the neighbourhood added to the surprise.

Sandler has been in London working on an upcoming film project, though details remain under wraps.

Despite his fame, witnesses said he blended easily into the weekend crowd.

Santos, who works as a languages teacher and is originally from Tarragona, took advantage of the moment to ask Sandler about his former co-star Juancho Hernangómez.

The Spanish basketball player appeared alongside Sandler in the Netflix sports drama Hustle in 2022.

Sandler reportedly spoke warmly about the athlete and the film, which earned strong praise for its grounded depiction of NBA scouting.

Passers-by who later learned of the encounter expressed disbelief that the long-time comedy star had been so accessible.

Those in the café said he spent several minutes speaking casually with customers before stepping back outside without any entourage.

The quiet appearance follows a pattern for Sandler, who is known for keeping a low profile when travelling.

He has been spotted in cities around the world wearing similarly relaxed clothing, often interacting warmly with fans.
