Bukayo Saka ‘100%’ Agrees with Thomas Tuchel’s Call to Score More Goals for England

Bukayo Saka has agreed with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s recent comments suggesting that he should be scoring more goals for England.

The Arsenal winger recently became the club’s highest-scoring player for the national team when he netted in the 3-0 friendly win over Wales. Despite this milestone, Tuchel said he was surprised that Saka had only scored 13 goals in 46 appearances for England, adding that 30 goals would be a more fitting target for a player of his calibre.

Responding to Tuchel’s remarks in an interview with TalkSPORT, Saka said: “I 100 percent agree with him. So, yeah, let’s go for more.”

He continued: “I think just being on the pitch is enough. In the England shirt, you have players of immense quality who can create chances, who can score chances. So just being on the pitch for me I think is enough. It’s up to me, the manager, the coaching staff — they create the perfect game plan for us to be ourselves, show our best qualities and express ourselves. So, yeah, it’s up to me.”

Breaking Arsenal’s England Scoring Record

Saka’s goal against Wales allowed him to surpass Arsenal legend Cliff Bastin as the club’s all-time leading scorer for England.

While the achievement is significant, Saka downplayed its importance compared to team success. Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, he said: “I don’t really think too much of these records. I feel like the trophies is more what I think about. But when I do take a step back and think about how much of a great achievement that is, obviously to be the top scorer for Arsenal for England, it’s amazing.

“All the players that we’ve had in the past, so I’m doing something well and I need to continue. But of course, at the same time there’s always room to improve and progress, which I’m looking to do.”

Focus Turns to World Cup Preparation

With England having already secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the final two qualifiers against Serbia and Albania will serve as an opportunity for Gareth Southgate’s squad to fine-tune tactics and build momentum.

Saka, who has been one of England’s most consistent performers in recent years, said the team is already thinking ahead to next summer’s tournament in North America.

He described the competition as “beautiful” and admitted it’s something that motivates him constantly.

“Of course, it’s always in the back of your mind,” Saka said. “Even though it does feel like it’s far away, you know it’s going to come quickly and the World Cup is beautiful. It’s one of the biggest tournaments that exists and everyone wants to be involved.”

He added: “It’s just about trying to stay in good shape, keep in good form and try to make sure that you try and get selected and you’re able to be involved in the World Cup because it’s something that you know doesn’t happen a lot, so you have to enjoy those things.”

Building Momentum for the Future

Saka’s form for both Arsenal and England has been consistently impressive, but his agreement with Tuchel’s comments shows his drive to elevate his game even further.

At just 24 years old, the winger has already established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout talents, blending technical ability with maturity beyond his years.

As England prepare for their next major challenge on the world stage, Saka’s hunger for improvement could prove crucial in their bid to bring home silverware.
