It’s difficult for a team that can’t score a goal to harvest fantasy football points so thank heavens for the new FPL defensive contributions.
Aston Villa defenders haven’t been up to much in Fantasy Premier League terms either so far this season but Saturday’s goalless draw at Everton finally saw a handful of players reward the poor saps – like me – still putting their faith in Unai Emery‘s side.
I’d still advise anyone harbouring lacklustre Villans to get shot of them in very short order, though I can’t promise to follow my own guidance. It’s not that easy to give them up, is it?
Villa’s top two players in GW4 picked up a not unimpressive nine points apiece for their contributions against Everton. Tyrone Mings is Villa’s best scorer outright and now has 18 overall and a form rating of 4.0 after GW4.
The only other Villa player with better form than 3.0 is Lamare Bogarde (3.3) and he too totted up another nine points on Saturday, taking his total to, er, ten points.
Returning goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez and centre-back Ezri Konsa each collected six points.
A quintet of Villans – Victor Lindelöf, Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Harvey Elliott and Evann Guessand – had to settle for one point apiece.
Player | GW4 Points |
---|---|
Tyrone Mings | 9 |
Lamare Bogarde | 9 |
Emiliano Martínez | 6 |
Ezri Konsa | 6 |
Matty Cash | 5 |
Lucas Digne | 5 |
Morgan Rogers | 3 |
John McGinn | 3 |
Emi Buendía | 2 |
Ollie Watkins | 2 |
Victor Lindelöf | 1 |
Youri Tielemans | 1 |
Donyell Malen | 1 |
Harvey Elliott | 1 |
Evann Guessand | 1 |
There’s no change in the top three in our AVF FPL league, where Gary James is still out in front with 316 points. Warren Torch has 274 and Hitesh Patel has 273 after they matched each other’s 81-point week.
The highest score of GW4 was 91, which saw Adeseye Michael jump up to 269 total points and climb into the top four thanks to captain Erling Haaland and big hauls from Antoine Semenyo and Micky van de Ven.
Down at the bottom, I’m now in the top 70 (hurrah!) while Alexander Mortimer stays at the bottom despite outscoring everyone else below me. The lowest scorer of the week was second-from-bottom Debbie Mortimer, which I’m sure is just a coincidence.
