Skechers named title sponsor of PGA Tour Champions' World Champions Cup

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to combine the passion and excitement of both the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup into a single exhibition, the PGA Tour Champions did just that with the introduction of the World Champions Cup, a three-team, three-day competition contested in nine-hole matches in which points are earned for each hole won across the event’s 24 matches. The teams play in sixsomes (modified alternate shot) and six-ball (best ball) matches for the first two days, followed by singles matches on the final day.

The three teams are composed of six senior players each from the U.S., Europe and the rest of the world (International). The inaugural World Champions Cup was played in 2023, with the U.S. team prevailing by an ultra-slim margin of two points over the Internationals. Last year, the tournament was postponed due to weather, so this year will mark the second playing of the event.

Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater, Fla., will host the 2025 edition of the tournament on Dec. 4-7. Last week, Skechers was announced as the event’s title sponsor, with Shriners Children’s named as the official charity partner.
