Scottie Scheffler's clubs: Inside his BMW Championship-winning setup
Scottie Scheffler has won… again… on the PGA Tour, now claiming the BMW Championship for his fifth win of the season.
Not only is it the 5th win for Scheffler, but it’s also the fifth win in a row for Scheffler’s lob wedge of choice, the Vokey K-Grind.
That run, ironically, started last month with Scheffler’s victory at the Open Championship and then continued with wins by Kurt Kitayama and Cam Young using the modified K* version, and Justin Rose last week using the same WedgeWorks 60.06K that Scheffler uses.
It’s a wedge Scheffler used earlier in his career when he won his first Masters, but switched away from late in 2022. He switched back this spring before his first win of the year at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
Scheffler changes very little in his bag from week to week. The only notable change for this win was keeping the Srixon ZU85 3-iron in his bag, rather than the 7-wood he had used to win the PGA Championship and Memorial. The 3-iron was in the bag in Dallas and last month for the Open Championship and the decision between 3-iron and 7-wood is the only course-dependent club change he makes.
Another constant is Scheffler’s TaylorMade Spider Tour X L-Neck putter that he switched to last year and has now won 12 times on the PGA Tour since. Just this season, players using a Spider putter have won 12 times on Tour, eight of those coming from Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.

PROGRESSIVE CENTER OF GRAVITY
SM9 features a progressive center of gravity (CG) throughout the lofts, which optimizes ball flight, accuracy and forgiveness. Using tapered top lines and varied hosel lengths, the Vokey R&D team has raised the height of the CG in the higher lofts, which promotes a lower, more controlled flight.
The CG is also forward of the face, resulting in increased MOI, exceptional feel and a club face that simply wants to square up at impact.
SPIN MILLED GROOVES
SM9’s patented Spin Milled grooves are meticulously engineered through a new cutting process to maximize spin and durability. The process starts by cutting the face perfectly flat with a high-speed saw. Then every groove is individually cut based on loft and finish; low lofts (46°-54°) are designed with narrower, deeper grooves, while higher lofts (56°-62°) have wider, shallower grooves.
Micro-grooves are individually cut in between grooves, which maximize spin on partial shots. A proprietary heat treatment is applied to the impact area which doubles the durability of the groove without impacting feel, making it the most durable groove in golf.
