Mbeumo Set for Manchester United Move After Breakthrough In Talks

Manchester United are reportedly nearing a breakthrough in negotiations with Brentford over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo, with the deal now moving swiftly towards completion after weeks of delay. The Cameroonian forward is expected to arrive at Old Trafford before the club embark on their pre-season tour of the United States. He had an exceptional previous campaign, notching 20 goals and eight assists across 38 Premier League appearances. United have already added Matheus Cunha from Wolves to strengthen their attack and are also monitoring Hugo Ekitike from Frankfurt, although the French striker’s price tag and rival interest may complicate any move.

According to Mike McGrath’s report for The Telegraph, Mbeumo is likely to become United’s third signing of the summer, following Cunha and young Spanish talent Diego Leon. Brentford’s sporting director Phil Giles had previously hinted that Mbeumo could remain at the club, but the tide now appears to have turned. Sources suggest that the prolonged negotiations had begun to frustrate the 25-year-old, adding urgency to the final stages of the deal. The club’s recruitment strategy continues to focus on bolstering their frontline, especially given doubts surrounding Rasmus Højlund’s development. The Danish striker scored only 10 goals in all competitions last season, a notable drop from his previous tally of 16.

Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to add a forward capable of either leading the line immediately or developing into a top-tier attacker under his guidance. Interest in Hugo Ekitike remains, although the Frankfurt striker could cost up to €100 million (£86.6m) and faces competition from several other Premier League clubs.

United Open To Onana Sale Amid Saudi Interest

Manchester United are open to selling goalkeeper André Onana this summer, with three Saudi Pro League clubs expressing interest in the Cameroonian international. Although the club signed Onana from Inter Milan for £47.5 million, sources close to Stretty News indicate they would now accept offers of around £30 million to avoid recording a financial loss. Despite a mixed season between the posts, Onana remains a popular figure with suitors abroad.

Al-Qadsiyah are believed to be the most eager among the Saudi clubs, as they aim to build a competitive squad domestically and continentally. Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal have also reportedly made enquiries about his availability. While no move is currently imminent, United are planning further reinforcements this summer. Their list of targets includes goalkeepers like Emiliano Martínez and Diogo Costa, though any such arrivals will depend on Onana’s future. Ruben Amorim is said to be open to retaining Onana if circumstances improve, trusting that the player can return to form under the right conditions. However, the absence of European football next season makes it difficult for United to accommodate two top-tier keepers on their wage bill.
