FIRST LOOK: Skechers unveils limited-edition U.S. Open shoe

To celebrate next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont, Skechers is releasing a new, limited-edition golf shoe.

The Skechers GO GOLF Blade GF was designed exclusively for 2022 U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick to wear during next week’s U.S. Open, and the shoe’s design includes details that highlight both the course and the championship’s history.

The bold red, white, blue and silver color palette honors the official colors of the U.S. Open, while the shoe’s sockliner graphic features a dime from 1927 — a nod to the year the U.S. Open was first played at Oakmont (this year marks the storied course’s 10th time hosting), as well a reference to a famous quote from Sam Snead.

“I put a dime down to mark my ball,” Snead said of Oakmont’s slick greens in 1962, “and the dime slid away.”

The Oakmont Easter eggs continue on the shoe’s outer heel, which features a tonal graphic depiction of the course’s famous church pews bunker, which sits between holes 3 and 4.

In addition to the fun design elements, the shoes are also packed with plenty of tech for added comfort and on-course functionality. Skechers Hands Free Slip-ins technology enables you to put on the shoes while standing, and the ECOFLIGHT cushioning is both lightweight and responsive. A waterproof upper means you can take on the elements with ease, while a GRIPFLEX spikeless TPU outsole provides superior traction and stability.

Want a pair for yourself? Mark your calendar! A limited number of the Skechers GO GOLF Blade GF shoes will be available for purchase starting Monday on the Skechers website.
