The PGA Tour’s most popular iron is getting an update.
On Monday, Titleist announced it is beginning the Tour seeding and validation process for its 2025 T-Series iron lineup. The lineup includes four iron models, plus two utilities, with the T100, T150 and T350, as well as the U505 driving iron all returning from the previous generation.
For the 2025 lineup, Titleist appears to be replacing the popular T200 players’ distance iron with a new T250 model, along with a utility version.
Titleist’s two-year product cycle runs like clockwork and as the company’s GT drivers and metalwoods were introduced last summer, the company is keeping up the tradition by introducing its new irons this year. In years past, the company has waited until next week’s Memorial Tournament to unveil new product, but this year, it’s bringing out the new line at the Charles Schwab Challenge. The company is also introducing the irons on the DP World Tour this week at the Soudal Open in Belgium.
“It’s years of research, player feedback, player testing,” Titleist senior director of club promotions, J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, said in a press release. “To bring the product out, see it tested on the golf course during a tournament week and prove itself — it’s super exciting to see all that finally come to fruition.”
Titleist loves to tease out their next club retail releases with their Tour launches several weeks prior. While the company isn’t yet commenting on the details of the new releases, we can draw a few conclusions.
So far, the company has only released three images of the new irons, and at first glance, very little cosmetically appears different about the T100 and T150. That should come as little surprise as the T100 has been the most popular iron on the PGA Tour since its introduction in 2019. Titleist has also led iron counts on the PGA Tour for the last 11 years (and last 16 years on the DP World Tour).
In previous generations, the T100 was the two-piece forged player’s iron that featured the smallest profile in the T-Series lineup but offered more forgiveness than the single-piece 620 CB or MB (more on those below). The T150 is its slightly larger and stronger-lofted sibling that hovers in that gap between a players and players distance iron.
Where things get interesting is moving into the T250 and T350. Gone is the popular T200 model that many pros have added to their bags as a more forgiving long iron option and has been the choice of many amateurs seeking a hollow-bodied players distance iron. Titleist likely felt the T150 and T200 were too close in performance, so they made the new T250 larger for more separation.
The new T250 likely has a slightly larger profile than the previous T200. The new T250 and the T350, which is the largest and most forgiving model, likely aimed as a game-improvement iron, all feature a similar top muscle pad design and finish. The T250U and U505 utility irons also feature similar cosmetics to the rest of the lineup.
The symmetry in the designs should allow for more seamless blending between the five models.
Titleist’s announcement did not mention a replacement for the 620 CB or MB single-piece forged irons, which have been on the market since 2019.
Titleist had been consistent about updating its classic players’ designs every two years, along with its previous flagship iron lines, the AP series. However, since the introduction of the T-Series, the company has kept the 620s in line, without any changes.

This could be for a couple of reasons, but first and foremost is that the single-piece forged irons don’t see much technical advancement over time, so there really isn’t much of a reason for Titleist to update those heads and ask their staff to test them. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
The second reason is that Titleist has developed a pretty substantial program for getting their Tour staff custom one-off iron designs to their exact specifications. Justin Thomas just won with the 621.JT irons and Adam Scott, a former staffer, recently re-inserted his 681.AS irons.

There’s no reason to bring a product out to retail that’s only for a specific pro or that isn’t necessarily an improvement, so Titleist seems content to stand pat behind the 620 CB and MBs.
