Hello, friends, and welcome to this week’s edition of the Rogers Report, where we are feeling very lucky because after a long month of not knowing where on earth my golf clubs were, they returned home safe and sound.
I just began my third consecutive week at home, which is the longest I’ve been in one place in well over a year. I have to admit I am loving it. It’s nice to do my own grocery shopping and just get into a general routine. And thankfully, the less-than-ideal weather at the Truist Championship last week and PGA Championship this week is keeping me from feeling like I’m missing out on too much on site.
I’ll be back on the road soon enough, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the best golf-ish moments from the past week.
We see a lot of Bryson DeChambeau on major leaderboards and on YouTube, but we saw a different side of him last week when the mother of Evan Hayes, a young boy going through cancer treatment, shared the experience of a lifetime that DeChambeau gave them.

DeChambeau flew Stephanie and Evan Hayes out to spend the day with him at his house. They hit balls in his backyard and shot content with his video producer. The two-time major champion gave Evan merchandise, autographs and even an outfit from his closet. DeChambeau had lunch and dinner with them at his house before they teed it up together Grapevine Golf Course. And to finish off the perfect day, the Hayeses went back to DeChambeau’s to watch the sunset on his rooftop deck before he drove them back to the airport.
My goodness! That’s a lot of really great things packed into one day. I think my favorite part (if I had to pick one) is the fact that DeChambeau drove them back to the airport himself. It shows just how much he cared and how much of a connection he made with Evan. Talk about a dream day for everybody involved!
Because I’m not much of a football fan, I became a fan of the Kelce brothers in a very roundabout way. I hadn’t even heard of them (awful, I know) until I followed Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes’ group at the American Century Championship a few years back. I immediately texted my brothers asking if they had heard of Kelce (oops) and said he was as nice as could be. When I covered the 8AM Invitational at Wynn Las Vegas in 2023, I became an even bigger fan of Travis Kelce, who definitely was in charge of all things fun at the event.
Fast-forward a few years, and Kelce and Taylor Swift started dating, so I started paying a whole lot more of attention to the Kelce family. I started seeing clips from their “New Heights” podcast as well as from Kylie Kelce all over social media, and I became an even bigger fan. So I was very eager to see what sort of social content we’d get from Jason Kelce’s PGA Tour pro-am debut at the Truist Championship, and I was not disappointed.
Kelce played nine holes alongside Shane Lowry, which was perfect because Lowry dressed up as a Kelce brother for Halloween, which they of course discussed at Philadelphia Cricket Club last week.
