The UEFA Champions League final will feature the battle between French outfit Paris Saint-Germain and Italian side Inter Milan. Both teams eliminated tough opponents in the semifinals and are set to provide an intriguing clash in the UCL final.
Les Parisiens got into the upcoming final game after taking down The Gunners 3-1 in aggregate, winning 1-0 at Emirates Stadium, before securing the tie with a 2-1 victory in Paris. Goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi were enough to overcome Arsenal’s efforts on Wednesday.
Having a slender lead following their first leg win, PSG had to endure intense pressure early on from the Gunners. However, Ruiz’s wonderful strike gave the home team more control and security, helping them to get out of Arsenal’s pressure.
Luis Enrique’s side doubled PSG’s advantage through Hakimi’s effort not long after Vitinha missed a spot kick. The away team still managed to make things interesting when Bukayo Saka pulled one goal back on 76 minutes, but it was not enough for them.
Over the two legs, Les Parisiens deservedly go through as they showed a solid performance in all areas of the pitch, from goalkeeper to their attacking department. Their upcoming test against Inter will be intriguing, knowing that the Nerazzurri would offer a strong physical battle and are content in playing on the counter.
Meanwhile, a day before PSG secured their place in the final, Inter already secured their spot after their dramatic win over Barca. Drawing 3-3 again in normal time, Davide Frattesi scored the killer blow for the Nerazzurri during extra time.
Before Frattesi’s important winner, Inter fans must thank Francesco Acerbi, who scored the late equalizing goal to force the match into extra time. Aside from those two names, the Italian side’s main star would be their goalkeeper, Yann Sommer, who made plenty important saves, especially in the second leg.
In the final, Inter will face a somewhat similar test defensively, but PSG does provide a tougher task for the Serie A side’s attackers. Luis Enrique’s men have also shown their ability to defend well, not to mention the excellent performance from Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal.
