LPGA's 2025 tournament schedule features record-breaking purse size

On Wednesday, the LPGA revealed the 2025 tour schedule, which is highlighted by 35 events offering a historic prize fund of $131 million — the largest total ever for the organization, which celebrates its 75th anniversary next year.

The $131 million up for grabs in 2025 represents a significant increase over the last several seasons, and a whopping $61 million more than the total purse size in 2021.

“The 2024 season was another year of historic growth for the LPGA Tour, and with this 2025 schedule we will continue to improve on that growth,” LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan said in a press release. “This schedule is highlighted by two exciting new events, a new multi-year title for the longest-running non-major tournament on the LPGA Tour, even higher purse sizes, increased benefits that will enhance the athlete experience, improved geographical flow and a longer off-season that will give our athletes a well-deserved rest after their tremendous work in 2024. We’re excited to see even more thrilling competition and unforgettable moments for our partners, athletes and fans worldwide as we continue to celebrate and support the remarkable journey of women’s golf in our 75th year.”

Schedule changes include a later start time for the season opener in 2025, the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, which will be played Jan. 30-Feb. 2, two multi-event Asian swings (one in February and March and another in October and November) and a European swing in July and August. A total of 11 countries and 14 states will be visited over the course of the season.

New events include the Black Desert Championship in Utah, and the LPGA’s first return to Mexico since 2017. Both tournaments will be played in May. The International Crown, a bi-annual team event, is also back, and will be played in Korea in October.

In addition to increased purse sizes, 24 events will offer travel stipends, free accommodations and/or guaranteed minimum payouts to competitors. The Black Desert Championship will provide private charters to tournament participants — the only domestic event to offer such a perk.

At this week’s CME Championship, the field will play for a $4 million winner’s check, the largest single prize in the history of women’s golf.

On the broadcast front, LPGA tournaments will continue to air on Golf Channel, with at least seven events airing on NBC and four events on CBS. ESPN+ will also stream three events.
