Arsenal are looking to add some creative midfielders to their ranks after the unfortunate injury to Martin Odegaard saw him miss a considerable chunk of football for the club.
In Odegaard’s absence, Arsenal failed to hit the right heights creatively, as the club relied heavily on Bukayo Saka to come up with the goods on a consistent basis. Prior to the all-important clash with Liverpool, Arsenal fans were sweating over the fitness of Saka and he couldn’t complete 90 minutes on the night, leaving the pitch on the 84th minute for Gabriel Jesus.
After the Liverpool draw, Arsenal struggled to create chances against Newcastle United and Internazionale, losing both games with a 1-0 score line. Saka played 81 minutes against Chelsea and had to be substituted for Gabriel Jesus yet again. This evidently means that Arsenal needs that extra creative spark from midfield.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal is heavily interested in signing Real Madrid’s wonderkid, Arda Guler on loan this January. The Turkish youngster is an exciting talent and will be a vital cog in the Arsenal machine, should he decide to sign for the club, but with Liverpool also interested in his services, we may be facing a bidding war for the attacking midfielder.
Arda Guler has found games hard to come by in Real Madrid and will be hoping for a permanent exit, as he believes he’s good enough to be a regular starter elsewhere. It is believed that he would cost up to 80 million Euros, so signing him for such a huge outlay will be a statement for the club.
He can take the same approach Odegaard did a couple of seasons ago, coming in on loan, before the Gunners made the deal permanent afterwards. We will monitor the situation and see how it progresses.
