Arsenal and Chelsea in Race to Sign Bayern Munich Starlet Lennart Karl

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs monitoring Bayern Munich teenager Lennart Karl, following the 17-year-old’s rapid rise under Vincent Kompany.

Karl joined Bayern’s youth setup in 2022 and made his senior debut earlier this year during the Club World Cup against Auckland City.

Since then, he has featured regularly this season, starting three matches across all competitions and contributing three goal involvements.

His standout moment came in the Champions League, where he became Bayern’s youngest-ever goalscorer after netting against Club Brugge.

Arsenal Scouts Monitor Karl’s Development

According to reports, Arsenal scouts were present at the Allianz Arena midweek to watch Karl’s performance against Brugge.

The Gunners have been closely tracking his progress and could consider a formal move next summer.

However, they face competition from fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City, both of which are reportedly exploring potential offers.

Karl remains under contract with Bayern Munich until 2028, after recently signing an extension, and the club is in no rush to sell.

Should they consider offers, Bayern are expected to demand a fee of around £70 million for their promising forward.

Chelsea Seen as Stronger Fit

Karl is known for his versatility — a left-footed right winger who can also play centrally.

He is admired for his composure on the ball, ability to beat defenders in tight spaces, and knack for long-range goals and incisive passes.

The teenager is widely regarded as one of Europe’s brightest attacking prospects.

While Arsenal’s right flank already boasts Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke, along with young prospect Max Dowman, their creative midfield area is also crowded with Martin Ødegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Ethan Nwaneri.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have greater need for attacking reinforcements, particularly on the wings.

Cole Palmer has carried much of the creative burden, and although the club signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton, he is expected to return at the end of the season.

Given these dynamics, Chelsea may offer Karl a clearer path to first-team football — a key factor for any young player considering a move away from Bayern Munich.
